Ian lives just steps away from the work place.
He worked out a deal with Audrey to allow him to park his
caravan in the rear of the factory parking lot for exchange
of keeping the upkeep (such as the gardening) in good order.
This deal was many years ago, and now the garden is over grown.
Once, there could have been romance between him and Audrey,
but over time he became more dishevelled, they both became
more part of the furniture and forgot about the romance that
might have been. A small part of him still keeps a light on
for Audrey.
He likes to think of himself as somewhat free. He can go at
anytime, take his caravan and disappear; he has no real shackles
to tie him down, even though he has been on the line for over
thirty years. |
